TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Students from Ouabache Elementary had an exciting field trip Wednesday, leaving the classroom to get an up-close look at the workings of the Terre Haute Regional Airport.
Students were given a tour by airport staff, during which they got to see the airplanes and hangars, the watchtower, and the Willa Brown historical display.
This field trip was the first of its kind.
THRA Business Relations Manager Kelsey Veatch said the airport staff were excited to have the kids out to experience the world of aviation.
“We’ve developed a field trip program exposing these kids to many avenues in the world of aviation and also give them a tour on the airfield side with our new tram,” Veatch said. “So we were very excited to have them out today.”
Airport staff also said they are excited to be able to education the community on all that aviation has to offer and show off their hometown airport.
