PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The suspect who seriously injured and stole from a 67-year-old Parke County resident on April 24 has been identified but police are still looking for them.
According to the Parke County Sherriff’s Office, deputies investigated the home invasion that took place around 7:00 p.m. in the area of County Road 500 N. west of Bloomingdale.
The police note that they suspect Jayden T. Smith, 19, as the person who entered the home, stole money, and injured the victim to the point of being flown to an Indianapolis Hospital. Police said they believe Smith then fled the scene.
The release said that at around 7:30 p.m. that evening, deputies investigated a case of auto theft in Montezuma that later related to Smith. There is a warrant out for Smith’s arrest for the following charges:
- Burglary with serious bodily injury | level 1 felony
- Armed robbery | level 3 felony
- Auto theft | level 6 felony
Smith’s whereabouts are unknown and law enforcement is asking anyone with any relevant information or details to contact the Parke County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim has since been released from the hospital and a full recovery is expected.
