VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Law enforcement in Vigo County is asking for the public’s help in solving a 1980 cold case homicide.
According to Vigo County Sheriff’s Office Chief of Operations Derek Fell, Gloria Hedden was originally reported missing on July 10, 1980.
Hedden’s husband reported that she had been missing and was last seen near the Indiana State University campus that day.
Two days later, on July 12, Hedden’s body was found in the Wabash River with both her hands and feet bound together.
Hedden had been enrolled at ISU at the time in a master’s program.
Fell said when she was spotted near campus she had been leaving her workplace.
“Detectives continue to work the case after many years. With advancing criminal investigative resources and your help, detectives hope to bring Gloria’s killer to justice,” Fell wrote.
